The man who recently molested a woman in Mumbai was arrested by the police on Wednesday morning. He has been identified as Gopal Valmiki. The victim, Maryanna Abdo, following the incident had filed a complaint at the Colaba police station against Valmiki. This incident even caught the attention of Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra Chief Minister, who had asked the police to nab the offender.
If you’re cribbing about how bad your Monday is progressing, you’d definitely change your mind after seeing this. In another incident which shamed a woman’s modesty in Mumbai today morning, a man masturbated to her in broad daylight (at 7:50 AM to be precise) and ran away after she confronted him and tried to take him to the police station. The lady, Maryanna Abdo, is a writer who works out of LA, London and Mumbai.
She tweeted the incident on Twitter right after it happened. Highlighting the offender, she’d said that the other two men in the photo were kind enough to help her nab the culprit, who however slipped out of their hands and ran for his life.
She also obliged when a gentleman asked her if she could share the time and location of the incident, so as to make the nabbing of the offender easier
This isn’t the first time an incident of this nature has surprised us. Only a couple of weeks back, a man tried to forcibly kiss a girl in broad daylight in the posh area of Connaught Place, Delhi, and was shamelessly protected by a sub-inspector who said that “kissing is not molestation”.
Maryanna Abdo too received flak on Twitter where people asked her to take action rather than post photos on social media
Another man apologized to her for the incident because it happened in India. However, Maryanna’s reply simply goes to show how it’s not a nation’s fault, that the problem is more deep-rooted
It’s high time we stop questioning the victim and become more proactive towards unitedly making such incidents come to an end. Please help spread the word and catch this man before he molests another woman’s modesty.
